With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Barbara Kay Bock, who left us on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born in Waukegan, IL on December 30, 1937, to the late Gustav and Laura (Lieferman) Isgren. Barbara filled her years with love, laughter, and a spirit that touched all who knew her.
Barbara was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Jimmy Walter Bock, whom she met while attending Warren High School. Together, they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage and were just one week shy of celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary.
Barbara began her career at Six Flags Great America as a seamstress, creating costumes for the park. Through her dedication and hard work, she advanced to a position in executive secretary, where she remained until her retirement.
Barbara enjoyed working on puzzles, sewing, fishing, casinos and attending fish fries. She and Jimmy looked forward to their annual trips to Minnesota, creating many cherished memories along the way. Independent and adventurous, Barbara also enjoyed traveling and took memorable trips to Alaska and Hawaii on her own.
Known for her caring nature and independent spirit, Barbara had a special way of making every holiday memorable. She especially loved bringing the family together and incorporating fun games into their celebrations, creating treasured traditions and lasting memories for those she loved.
Barbara’s adventurous soul and indomitable spirit will be deeply missed by her son, Randall (Terri) Bock, Douglas John (Tammy) Bock and Candy Kay (Phil May) Bock; her brother, Gustav Robert (Virginia) Isgren; her grandchildren, Doug Bock Jr., Kellie (Mike) McLellan, Zachary (Emily) Bock, Laura Wikenhieser; Erica (Jessica) Rosales, Jessica (Daryl Brantly) Rosales; her great grandchildren, Emaliegh McLellan, Randall Bock II, Quinn Wikenhieser, Kaitlynn Anderson and Alyssa Brantly and many cousins who were fortunate enough to share in her life. Her vibrant personality and kindness left a lasting impression, and her stories will live on in the memories of those she loved.
In additions to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy Walter Bock.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers, as we remember a woman who embraced life with open arms and shared her love so generously.
Memorial services honoring Barbara’s life will be held privately.
