Helen T. Blomquest, age 100, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020.
Born in Butler, PA on October 11, 1920, Helen was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Gocek) Maksen.
On October 11, 1952, she was united in marriage to Max Blomquest at St. Mary’s Church.
Helen attended local schools and was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She was President of PTA, President of Past Presidents of PTA and a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. She had volunteered numerous hours for St. Catherine’s Hospital, was a poll worker and was head of the festival bakery for St. Casimir’s Parish. She was a helper, doer and hard worker, through and through.
Her hobbies included baking (especially Kringle), knitting, crocheting, reading and working on puzzles. She loved to watch sports and was often seen cheering in the stands for her friends and family. She enjoyed playing cards and boardgames, especially with her granddaughter when she was younger. Family, and friends that became family, were the most important thing to her, and she treasured spending time with her loved ones. Helen is most remembered for her strength, kindness and love, even through the challenging times of her life.
She is survived by her son, Norman (Brenda) Blomquest; and her granddaughter, Rebecca Blomquest.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Leo, Stanley and Zigmund; her sister, Josephine (Jay); as well as her loving husband, Max Blomquest.
