Mary M. Vidas
junio 3, 1956 -
septiembre 25, 2021

Mary Michele (Metten) Vidas passed away peacefully at age 65 surrounded by her family, at home on
Saturday, September 25, 2021, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
The daughter of the late Donald and Beverly (nee Beyer) Metten was born on June 3, 1956 in Kenosha.
She was a graduate of Tremper High School and attended UW-Parkside.
On September 8, 1979 she married the love of her life, John P. Vidas at St. George Catholic Church and is a current member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She worked at Jockey International until she became a stay-at home mom to raise her three children. When her kids were grown, she became an educational assistant for KUSD, a job she loved dearly. She touched the lives of many students over her 24 years with the district working at both Columbus and Harvey Elementary. She loved working with all children but she always held a special place in her heart for the special needs children she worked with. Mary’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
She loved camping, especially in her favorite place, Door County, vacationing with her children and grandchildren in Florida, walking with her family and friends along the lakefront and through Petrifying Springs. She enjoyed reading, yoga, working in her flower filled yard and her monthly dinner outings with friends. She cherished filling her calendar with all of her grandkids activities and was so excited to recently find out that she would be having her first granddaughter early next year.
She will be greatly missed by her husband John; her daughter, Kristin (Jeff) Wirch, Kenosha; her two sons, Michael (Melissa) Vidas, Kenosha and Matthew (Elizabeth) Vidas, Seattle, WA; her one sister, Nancy (Mike) Behr, Kenosha; her five grandchildren, Ben, Brady, Cole and Grant Wirch, Brecken and new coming baby Vidas; her two sisters-in-law, Mary (Ted) Hodan, and Judy Vidas; her aunt, Sandra (Peter) Roche, and many loving nieces and nephews. She will also be greatly missed by her dog and walking companion, Tinker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Donna Metten and a niece.
The family would like to thank Hospice Alliance and staff for their loving and compassionate care of Mary.

Joyce HartJohn and family, you have my sympathy as you grieve the homegoing of Mary. I worked with her at the Jockey DC when there were busy times and she inspired me to write in a small date book of the days happenings in the Jockey Pocket planner which I began in 1987 and continue to this day in a small weekly planner every year. The other day I was at Petts, and I thought about John and Mary and greeting them at different times as we walked there. Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.

Diane and Ken MeierBlessed be, Mary. May you Rest In Peace. I have always admired your joyful disposition and your radiance. Ever since you were little you exhibited this joy and it appears that you continued this throughout your life. Even though we didn’t see each other much in adulthood, I always enjoyed talking with you and John at Grandma and Grandpa Metten’s house over the holidays. Each year we seemed to show up at the same time, and that was a gift. The love that you shared with John was evident to anyone who saw you together. I have enjoyed reconnecting with you on Facebook and seeing the beautiful pictures of you with your family, a treasure to be cherished now. ….John , my heart goes out to you and I am so thankful that Mary had you in her life for 42 years of marriage. Please find your peaceful place during this sad time. …..With Love, Diane & Ken Meier

Mary Ellen QuintHeaven has gained a luminous soul! Though I've not seen much of you and your family ,John, the last several years (outside of Christmas card and letters), I have many happy memories of Mary Michelle! I knew both of you before you knew each other. When I was in High School, I babysat my two beautiful cousins, Mary Michelle and Nancy! At the same time, I helped out at St. George's grade school , John, when you were in first grade! I was so happy when you two found each other and started a family. I also remember your wonderful hospitality when we would come back to Kenosha in the summer, and your love and support when my mother died. Mary Michelle will be missed by many, but most of all by her beautiful family. I know she is watching over all of you now. Sending many hugs, prayers, and lots of love to all of you! Mary Ellen Quint
John and family. My heartfelt condolences!! Such a beautiful person Mary was. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure you will all miss her so much, a wonderful friend, wife mother, and grandma. Bless you all. Chris
