Denise J. Matson-Vasquez, age 62, passed away at Aurora at Home Zilber Hospice surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 14, 2023.

Born on March 12, 1961, in Escanaba, MI she was the daughter of the late John Charles and Virginia (Rupard) Matson.

On December 27, 1994, she was united in marriage to Gene Vasquez.

Denise was as a caregiver.

She belonged to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Racine, WI.

She was a community service leader and was involved with fund-raising projects for the Alzheimer’s Association. She enjoyed cooking, camping, fishing, eating out and entertaining. Denise was passionate about advocating for change for those with disabilities and protecting those who could not speak for themselves.

Denise will be greatly missed by her husband, Gene; her son, Joseph Vasquez; her sister, Paulette Kissee; her brother, Dee Matson and her brother-in-law, Donald Kissee.

Along with her parents, Denise was preceded in death by her brother, John Fred Matson.

Funeral services honoring Denise’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the Piasecki Funeral Home, 3720 39th Ave, Kenosha, WI.

Interment will take place in Green Ridge Cemetery.

A visitation for Denise will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
