It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kim Sam Fonk, who left us on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the age of 69.
Born on May 6, 1955, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Kim spent his life radiating love, laughter, and warmth to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Kim was the building manager for Catholic Charities in Waukegan for 23 years, until his retirement in 2021. Although retired, he maintained a friendship with many people that he had worked with over the years.
A true die-hard Green Bay Packers fan, Kim celebrated "Packer Sundays" with excitement and joy. He had a true passion for cooking, often dazzling everyone with his culinary creations. Each year, the family looked forward to the annual family calendar filled with fun memories, laughter, and always lots of food.
He adored his dogs, especially Daisy. He embraced every holiday, even the made-up ones, with enthusiasm and a spirit of togetherness that brought friends and family into their home for so many gatherings.
Kim is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Penny; sons, Michael (Dawn), Jonathon, Vincent, and Dominic (Jolene) Fonk; daughter-in-law, Lisa Glancy; and 11 grandchildren.
Kim was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph & Angeline Fonk; son, Brandon Fonk; sisters, Karen (Rick) Renzulli, and Kathy Cristiano.
Kim's legacy lives on in the happy, healthy sons he raised, each finding their own path to success and fulfillment. Join us as we honor Kim's extraordinary life filled with love and laughter, ensuring that his spirit continues to guide us all.

Bob & Ruth RedlinWhat a shock!! Ruth and I spent many fun and happy days together with Kim. We went to middle school and High School together. Kim was in our wedding and was a source of laughter and friendship. As we grew older and our jobs took us away from Kenosha we lost touch only to rekindle again a few years ago. Our deepest condolences to Penny and the boys. Heaven has inherited a huge heart filled with laughter and love.

Laurel and Otto WimpffenMy husband and I send our deepest condolences to Penny and family. Kim was taken too soon and we know he will be missed by everyone. I had the pleasure of working closely with Kim at Catholic Charities. It was always a pleasure talking with him and being part of the same great administrative team. May you find solace in wonderful memories and may your hearts be soothed by the love and comfort you are receiving from family and friends.
